[RP] Azureus in Arundel

Azureus
Open rp for everyone

Azureus arrived at Arundel's market. He walked around it and tied to look for a prices and compared them to the average prices he had learned. He was particularly interested in all the furnitures he found and he was quite surprised. It seemed that local carpenters were far more active in making furnitures here than on the other cities. All maybe no one wanted them and they were piling up here for ages. Azureus wanted to find out if anyone would like to buy some of his quality furnitures. Or at least Azureus always told that they were quality. Some were some weren't but he trusted that no one noticed the difference. At least he hadn't heard any complaints yet but that was propably for the fact that he changed the market quite often and no one knew where to find him to make a reclamation.

Azureus wrote down all the prices of furnitures and started his calculations. He could put almost everything on sale. Azureus nodded and turned around back to his ship to gather all the products he needed to put on sale. Azureus was quite pleased until his scar started to tingle again. He flinched and frowned.

Umberlee
Umberlee had been out walking and enjoying the sunshine. She had let go o'a large burden of 'stuff' earlier that day, and she felt as free as a bird. Truth was she had been quite hurt with certain matters, but those matters, mattered little now. As much as the man that had caused the sting.

As every moment was one forward, not backwards she happened to notice a new face heading back down towards the port. He had quite handsome features, and she was curious to the mans arrival, or departure.

She made eye contact, and offered a smile, a welcoming one, of curious intrigue. "Hello Sir, how be ye? Coming or going?" she nodded towards the port. "All is well? Do ye need a hand?" she noticed he had a look of perhaps uncomfortable or pain before her greeting....

Azureus was in the middle of lifting one of his crates which contained two rustic benches. Sudden pain from his scar was making him feel uncomfortable and picking up heavy objects made him grunt. In conclusion his appearance wasn't perhaps the most appealing sight. To his surprise Azureus saw a woman approaching him with a beautiful smile and he heard her greeting him. Azureus looked around to know whether woman talked to him or someone else.

He might have looked a bit funny since he held a heavy crate and mumbled something to respond. But after few seconds he eventually laid the crate down and greeted the woman.
"Well hello to you. Yes... Do I need a hand? No, I don't think so. Or wait. I think I do. ", Azureus answered with a funny sounding accent. He tried to calm down a bit and breathed in for a few times. "My apologies. I wasn't actually prepared. But yes I'm all fine, but I... I could actually use a extra hand with loading these crates onto my cart. I'm going to put these on sale on the market", he said with much slower pace and much more clearer accent. His old wound was still hurting him but Azureus tried to smile as much as possible. He knew the pain wouldn't last long anymore.

Umberlee
His accent caught her attention, even before his eyes did. Umberlee always noticed eyes, but she smiled brighter when she heard his response to her. "I can help, if ye wish, I mind none, I was just passing by, and well te be honest I did not recognize ye, so I thought I would say hello." she could hear the laboured breathing and she took the moment to continue to speak so he could catch his breath further. "I am Umberlee Griffith, a baker here in Arundel and also the Mentor. I can see ye have some wonderful pieces here. I do hope ye can make some sales!!" she let her own features soften from the warmth she first offered to an almost gentle flirtatious glimmer within her eyes. "Where ye be from? I can already tell with yer accent it be far from here, tis one I cannone place." she then asked. "are ye feeling ok, if I can be so bold ye have winced a few times. Did ye get hurt recent?" she did hold concern for this gentleman.

"Thank you and nice to meet you", Azureus replied to the mentor. "My name is Azureus Conterell and I come from up north. From Kingdom of Finland to be precise. And I guess this explains my odd accent to you. Our language is whole lot different and therefore my accent might be quite funny sounding", he continued with a bit of a laugh. With a laugh came a pain too. "Hurt? Yes. But recent. It's been over a six months already but the pain is still somewhy haunting me occasionally. It's nothing I can't handle though", he said and tapped his scar few times.

Izzie.
(Alright! This RP might get pretty long. I do hope you sell things though.)

Izzie had been busy harassing Andy, and was now on her way to find Azureus. Along the path she thought about Avis' life too, and how she'd grown. It had been many years since she'd seen any of the Sharpe family. Avis had been so little when she saw her last, and now she was a mother. Wow. I feel so old, she thought. So, she was so glad that Azureus wanted to stop in Arundel.

Since arriving from Aragon, Isabel had been all over England. It was such a wonderous place. It always seemed to be raining though. That was very curious to her. As she passed by the market she thought about her future, and how it had been so tumultuous. Things did not always turn out for Izzie, but much of that was her insistence never to settle for the second best of anything. She had cursed her own nature more than once in her life.

Arriving at the dock, she saw Azureus lifting heavy crates. She stopped a moment, and watched him. She felt herself swoon. What the? She never swooned. Observed maybe. Swoon? Never! Isabel had never considered herself a weak woman. But he is not exactly an average man, she told herself. She tilted her head as she walked slower. He was very fit, attractive, and confident, and she had noticed.

Isabel considered herself to be a rational woman, but sometimes a woman can't help it. Azureus seemed to be one of the few men that could turn her head. She loved watching him sail, and move barrels on the ship. She admired his smile when they drank in the tavern. She was different around him. She had been very shy about telling him anything personal. That wasn't like her at all. Maybe she was afraid she would feel something for him.

Even though they hadn't spent that much time together, she found his demeanor always pleasant and kind. Is he always that way? She thought back to the few memories they had. His smile made her feel comfortable. She liked that. Of course, if he was wearing any kind of armor or uniform, she was truly helpless against his charm. She could never tell him that though. Instead, she tried to be aloof.

As she approached him, she noticed the young lady talking to him. Her eyebrows rose and she walked a little bit faster. A twinge of jealousy was growing in her stomach. No. She stopped walking and quickly adjusted her dress. She took a breath, No. I will be pleasant.

Her dress was silver, and she'd always wanted one just like it. And while she had purchased it for herself, she was hoping that Azureus would like it. She smiled kindly to the woman as she approached the two of them. Good day! Buenos días.

She tilted her head at Azureus, And good day to you my captain. Wow. You seem to have a lot of items.

Umberlee
Umberlee smiled. It was wonderful to have such easy conversation with someone new. For far too long she had allowed her own past to keep her quiet, almost a hermit away from the beauty and love that Arundel and the rest of England held. "Finland! How wonderful! Jah the sea must be such a temptress te be upon. Are ye the Captain o'this ship?" she asked in curious amusement and honest inquiry. "Ye have so many wonderful furnishings but do ye have enough food and supplies for yer trip? I am a baker myself and can offer ye some wonderful treats if the sea is calling yer name anytime soon." she made sure to help him lift some of the heavy items, and found the work out a welcome test to her muscles.

Her eyes fell to his scar, "Mind if I ask what happened? Have ye seen a doctor or perhaps even a medic. There be some herbs that can help heal ye quicker, and diminish the scar. Though scars are stories, and make the man interesting." she was warm, friendly but nothing more.

Umberlee had caught the woman in a breathtaking silver dress. How could she or anyone miss such a beautiful lass heading towards the port and so it seemed, heading towards them. "Good day indeed m'lady!! Your dress is breath taking, the richness of the silver in the fabric... hardly anything I have seen before!!!" she noted the look in the womans eyes, and smiled a friendly smile to her. It seemed the woman had a tickle of fancy for the gentleman she now knew as Azureus. "Yer accent is different too, what a wonderful day for meeting new faces and friendly souls!!! Are ye from Finland as well?" she asked with curious tilt of her head. Umberlee introduced herself to the woman and offered to shake her hand. "I really do love yer dress, ye must be at this very moment the most beautiful lass in all o'England!!!" she smiled and the lady could tell that Bees comment was sincere. "I rarely dress up anymore, always so busy in my bakery, and whatnot. Ye see I live nae to far from here, just down past the port. I have my house and bakery and fields, and myself and my cat and horse..." she paused. "Sorry I am rambling, lets get these items where they need te be shall we M'Lord Azureus?" she offered again.

Azureus

Azureus was really starting to enjoy this conversation and he noticed that the pain started to ease of a bit. "Oh yes, I am the captain. Or actually, the new captain actually since I didn't buid this beauty", Azureus said when Umberlee asked about his ship Sampo. "The previous owner died unfortunately and this cog was left without anyone to sail with it. I took it to myself and renewed it so it probably sails even better than before. Of course I angered some people with this action and I had that fight to keep this ship as mine. I'm not sure if anyone wants to have vengeance on me but I'll only have to make sure that I'm faster than they are", Azureus continued and had a little laugh at the end. He liked to joke a lot. It was in his nature. Although he had his more serious and firm side as well he tried to have a bit of laugh every now and then. Which was probably the case with most of the Finns. They are truly mostly seen as serious and severe but in the end most of the time they showed a much more positive side to people they liked to be with. "But yes. Finland is my home. The journey here wasn't a easy task with constant problems of seas freezing and evading possible pirates by steering into the hearth of storm and...", Azureus said but then stopped and changed a tone "But I guess that's enough for sea stories", he said and grinned.

Umberlee then asked about his furnitures and told Azureus she was a baker and offered Azureus some of her bakins. Azureus thanked her and told he had brought some of the furnitures from his hometown but most of them were already sold but he continued to buy furnitures from English markets and sell them on other cities. Azureus was quite excited to hear Umberlee was a baker as well. He was or had been too although he hadn't made any bread to many years. He talked about some Finnish bakings but didn't brag too much because in his opinion they were quite substandard compared to other areas in Europe. He kindly refused to buy any treats right now since he's own supply was overflowing but promised to buy some in the future when the stock was running out.

Then the conversation continued onto his scar. Azureus smiled a bit since it always came to this. Umberlee was really kind to ask him to see a doctor perhaps but Azureus quickly refused: "I've seen few doctors but they haven't got anything to help me. All they have said that it will take time until the pain goes off but but for now there's not much they could do. I've tried some herbs and yes... yes they offer a slight relief but not that much that I'd be willing to use all my money for them. The scar crossed on his face and had made his right eye inoperative. He continued: "This is only the after pain. As I said I had lost my eye over six months ago and fortunately the worst is over for now. As for the story..." Then he started to look a bit uncomfortable as he was thinking about how to tell about it: "Well... the story is indeed quite long and it would take a whole evening to tell it out. Let just say it was a bear and fortunately I had some loyal friends to carry me out from there."

Suddenly he noticed that Izzie joined the conversation. She had bought a new dress and Azureus smiled at her. Izzie greeted them both and Azureus nodded at her. "Well look at you Izzie. Is that a new dress? It truly suits you. It's really beautiful", he said to Izzie who was wearing a silver coloured dress. Umberlee started to compliment on Izzie's dress and Azureus nodded alongside her. Quickly the conversation turned into quick rambling as both of the women talked and Azureus couldn't have a word. He just stood there and felt a bit uncomfortable until Umberlee turned to him and ask whether they should lift the crates onto the cart. "Well... Yes. Oh yes. I almost forgot I had a work to do", he laughed and started to think whether he should do it alone and leave the women talking and getting to know each other or should he ask them to help him. "But you don't have to if you don't want. I can do this myself though."

I will be leaving today and have a short voyage to France and then get at Arundel to visit the town shortly

Azureus

Few days had passed and Azureus arrived back at Arundel. Much hadn't happened during this time but Azureus was really used to that. Heck in his home country it would take weeks for mailman to bring any letters to his homestead. This had made him quite a patient person but even Azureus had some limits.

At that point he's impatience was growing with a large pace. He was looking directly at a local merchant who was slowly counting money Azureus had given him and slowly loading loafs of bread to his cart. Azureus sighed so loud he was absolutely sure some birds flew away scared from that sound. "Ehm", Azureus tried to hint to the merchant. "Ehhehem", he continued. "Oh great now I'm sounding like an idiot", he thought immediately afterwards. The local merchant didn't pay any attention to Azureus at all and it looked like he counted even slower. The merchant was an old man which probably explained how he occasionally dropped some coins on the ground. He wore a funny looking, but also an extremely dirty, hood which made him look like a retired jester.

Azureus had no idea why he had chose to buy his supply from this man when there were tons of better options at the market and at the town in general. "Eikö se neuvonantaja Umberlee ollut myöskin leipuri*?" he said in low tone. It was quite a shock to hear a response from the old man which answered: "Oh yes. Umberlee is a baker as well. But I'm making the best bakings in town so you'd better just sit down son and let me finish my job". The old man hadn't even looked at him and he was still counting the money, whit the slow pace as usual. Azureus frowned at the man but he wasn't even sure to what he was frowning. To the fact that the old man understood his language or had just heard Umberlee's name to be mentioned or that he claimed to make best bakings in town. "We'll see. Just count the money old man", Azureus replied to him and old merchant turned on him and looked him with a funny face.

"Eh... please", Azureus continued and old man nodded with a satisfied face. "Käppänä**", Azureus mumbled and went to look for a chair to sit on. Well at least he was now sure that the man didn't understand Finnish. Well at least that was a relief.

* Wasn't the mentor Umberlee a baker as well?

Umberlee
Umberlee had really not thought much of the gentleman she saw in passing. She met and spoke and welcomed so many people and saw so many new faces---- not that she did not enjoy that!! On the contrary she loved it perhaps too much. It gave her purpose and reason to drag her tush from the comforts of her wonderfully welcoming bed daily. To say she had not thought of him, or his beautiful, dare she assume mistress at all would have been a lie. She had enjoyed the brief conversation they shared, and had been happy to help load the bits onto his ship.

Umberlee had never set foot on a ship. She never had left Arundel since her return with Grundal. Perhaps it was fear, perhaps it was unknown, perhaps it was a longing to be a woman bound to where her heart lay. So many complications, so many confusions, so many inconclusive's. A ship or any adventure would only bring more....

Today she had brought her breads and pastries to the market, but she had not herself stayed to sell. Rarely did she stay to sell her own goods. She had a young woman, a quiet girl (perhaps a bit too quiet for a good salesperson) help her weekly and gave the girl a percentage of the earnings for the day. It was sometimes a very good coin, and at other times a very little coin. Those were the days Umberlee would usually slip a few more farthings into her hand and give her a boost of confidence that she indeed had earned it.

Umberlee was wandering, rather aimlessly today. Her mind felt heavy with an unexplained trouble. She usually hid such from her expression, but those that knew her would know something was eating at her deeply. Such being her mind preoccupied she did not notice the gentleman known to her as Captain Azureus had returned, nor that she had just walked by him and another gentleman she too had called a few names over the last few weeks!

Izzie.
Izzie had stopped by the ship to get a few things, and pushed up her white parasol and smiled. She had forgotten this parasol was on this trip. So, it was a pleasant surprise when she saw it in her things. It was nice to feel a little fancy again. A dress, and a parasol? She was tickled pink. In the last year, she had been wearing very plain clothing, specifically pants. At first she loved it. Well, for nearly a year she loved it. But now, she just didn't feel like pants anymore. She was in the mood for dresses and parasols. She even had a little bag that she could put Vom Vom into.

She used to have to wear pants, when she had a shop. She lost that shop when she decided to travel. She used to have a lot of things . . . and a lot of things were in her flat in Kendal.

While walking back toward town, she quickly came upon Azu with an older gentleman. They appeared to be doing some kind of trade. At first she didn't interrupt their transaction, but then it seemed to be taking a while. After a bit, she grew impatient. She walked up beside Azu and winked at him. She eyed the older gentleman. Good day gentlemen. She smiled at the older fellow, attempting to charm him. Maybe she could improve whatever was happening here.

Azureus

Azureus had buried his hands into his head. He was praying to both the christian God and every old Finnish pagan gods to help with this old man and to end this agony. He had notice that even the scar had become more painful maybe due to all the frowning Azureus had done.

He slowly dragged the hands way from his face and stretched corners of his eyes and suddenly he saw Izzie besides him. Azureus drew himself up faster than he had thought was even possible. He tried to whisper Izzie for help but could only make his lips move due loud sigh. Izzie winked at him and turned talking to the old man and Azureus crossed his arms and stepped behind Izzie to hear the conversation.

Izzie greeted the old man with a huge smile who turned around to greet her back. The old man's face brightened and he began to grin his ugly toothless smirk. At the same time he licked his fingers and swoop his forehead and hair. Azureus snorted.
"Well good afternoon to you miss", old man said extending the last word into a long hiss-sound. Azureus shivered. "What can I do to a such of a beauty", he continued. Izzie explained that they were in bit of a hurry and old man nodded with a smile and loaded the rest of the breads to the cart. Azureus lower jaw dropped to the ground. As he looked both Izzie and the old merchant in turns. "I... I... Why... Eh...", he stuttered and inhaled rapidly.

Five minutes later Azureus and Izzie were talking together at the market. Azureus still sulked a bit and mumbled Finnish curse words but Izzie was on a good mood. She rolled her white parasol while walking. After a while when Azureus calmed down a bit, he finally paid attention to her sunshade. "Well... It really suits you... You know", he said but soon continued: "The parasol I mean. And oh your dress too.

"Really smooth Azureus, really smooth", he thought by himself sarcastically. Before Izzie could answer the cart bounced from a small rock and one loaf of bread dropped on the ground. Azureus quickly went to pick it up only to realize it was spoiled. "What... Wait what", he grunted slowly and went to investigate rest of his new supply. Soon he closed his eyes since he had realized that the old man had put spoiled bread when hadn't been lookin. "Minä vielä tapan sen ukon*", he said but saw Izzie to be a bit amused. Azureus tried to scan around the market to see sight of the old man but he was long gone. His shoulders collapsed down.

Fortunately everything changed to positive after all. Soon after realizing the fraud Azureus noticed a young girl selling a bread right near him. Azureus had dropped, or most likely tossed out all the spoiled loafs away and his cart was half empty once again. He went to the girl and offered her to buy as many bread as possible to fill up his cart. Perhaps the girl had hard time understanding his accent or was very quiet but she nodded and started to fill the cart with a haste. Just few minutes later Azureus' cart was full with just baked and fresh bakings and Azureus was really relieved. The girl took the coin Azureus offered and quickly counted all the money and gave some change back. Azureus smiled once again. And even more when he noticed a small label with a Umberlee's name on it.

"Say my greetings to miss Umberlee from me, Azureus Conterell. We'll be leaving today but would like come back again in the future." he said to the girl. The girl thought it for a second and he saw as she tried to spell his name slowly but without saying anything. Soon she nodded and replied with short: "I will." Azureus started to pull his cart to the ship and tried to avoid every small rock on the way. It was best to get these supplies to the ship before anything would happen to them.

* I swear I'm going to kill that old man
