[ORP] The Crossroads Inn

Llyres
Carrying the deed to lot 39 in hand for the new resident's signature, Llyres hastened through the doors of the tavern, shutting out the cold behind her quickly. Good morning Sherise, she chirped, stamping her boots to warm her toes a bit, looks like we have a steady wind from the bay all day. Mind if I take a mug of tea with me when I go over to the port office? Shivering again, she approached the bar, smiling at the dark haired woman. How are you today? Have you been busy?

Pulling the paper from the satchel, she leaned a bit across the bar. Is there a Nuada McClintock staying in the rooms? He visited the real estate office about some land earlier. We confirmed it's vacant and I have the deed here for his signature.

Sherice
Sherice jumped slightly, not hearing the Lady come in. Blushing furiously, she turned towards her and threw her a smile, "And here I thought no know could sneak up on me! You walk so quietly." Llyres asked, and Sherice quickly set about making her a nice mug of tea. 'Good thing I keep water on the stove all the time,' she thought.

Sherice filled the teapot, and put in the tea ball to let it steep, then turned back towards Llyres. Soon the tea was ready, and she filled a mug, smiled and slid the mug towards her, watching as Llyres wrapped her cold hands around the mug. "Careful, it's still hot," she warned. She looked about the quiet Inn for a moment, then back towards her. "I'm fine t'day, thank you. It's been quiet so far. Most o' the guests are either still resting or out on errands. Which is good, as it's given me a chance t'familiarize myself with the kitchen and the Inn too."

Sherice enjoyed the fragrance emanating from the teapot, and decided to take a mug of tea herself, quickly pouring herself one as well. She turned back to the woman, holding her mug much the same way, savouring the heat seeping through into her fingers. "Does the wind always blow in off the bay? It has quite the bite to it..."

Sherice sat, enjoying the quiet company with the lovely lady. She watched as Llyres pulled the paper from her satchel, and leaned a bit across the bar. "Is there a Nuada McClintock staying in the rooms? He visited the real estate office about some land earlier. We confirmed it's vacant and I have the deed here for his signature."

Sherice nodded, smiled and gestured upstairs with her chin. "Oh, aye, he's upstairs resting. Seems he was up a tad late last night, and is in need of some rest. But I expect he should be up soon. He was never one to sleep late. I can go and check to see if he's up and about yet, if ye wish."

Llyres
Sipping the tea, Llyres watched the woman bustle around behind the bar. She was a natural, as she'd claimed and Llyres felt no qualms about the hospitality that would be extended toward familiar or stranger. I'm glad you have the time to grow accustomed to the Inn. Sometimes it is quiet like a church and sometimes busier than the docks. Being ready for either is the trick.

As Sherise responded to her question about Nuada, Llyres nodded, only slightly raising an eyebrow at the discussion of his sleep habits. But of course these two were from the same land and had traveled here together. Please don't wake him but if he's already begun his day, it would be wonderful to finish this small business. If he's not awake, I'll have to ask him to stop by the realtor's office this afternoon. Or if he's up for the challemge, he can try to find me down by the port earlier.

Sherice
Sherice sat at the bar, having cleaned all the glasses and now sat polishing the wood of the counter. All was quiet. She had gotten up early in the morning, and had spent time preparing the meals for the day. Now that the food was simmering and baking, Sher sat at the bar, and reflected back the past week.

The inn had been quiet, with few visitors. So it gave Sherice a chance really get to know the place, and give it a thorough cleaning that it needed. All the rooms had been swept, dusted and aired out; linens changed and washed. The common room was next; fireplace was swept clean and scrubbed, tables polished, windows cleaned, common room aired out (despite the chill in the air). Once she was satisfied with the appearance, she turned her attention to the kitchen.

The kitchen took her another 2 days to clean to her satisfaction. All the pots, pans, glassware, cutlery, plates, mugs, and ovens got her thorough attention. All was scrubbed clean to Sherice's satisfaction.

So after a week's hard work, the inn was up to Sher's standards. She sat there, smiled, then gave the bar a final swipe with her cloth, then went into the kitchen to check on her baking and to make herself some tea.

Syrus
Syrus tromped through the door of The Crossroads Inn, weary from the long travel from Reading. He noticed few patrons at the bar and eyed an open seat. Relief filled Syrus as he sat, his pack drifted of his shoulder to the floor.

Syrus look eagerly around hoping to spot the keeper of the inn. With no luck, his thoughts trailed to the fire that destroyed Reading, his former home.
Come to Bridgewater they said, Syrus thought to himself. I hope my family made it here safely Syrus said quietly.
Sherice
Sherice looked up from behind the bar, where she was cleaning glasses. She watched as the stranger came into the Inn, looking road weary. He went and chose an open seat near the hearth, and lowered both himself and his bag with what looked like a sigh of relief.

Sherice quickly finished wiping the last of the glasses then made her way around the bar to and over to the traveller.

"Welcome and well-met, sir. Can I get anything for you this eve?"

Syrus
A fine beer please, Syrus replied pulled from his thoughts, a fine town you have here, originally I am from Reading. Syrus shuttered in the memory of the great fire, A terrible time for England, but from that tragedy comes hope. Syrus thoughts again turn to his family.
Mok
A bright light shone on Mok's face awaking him from a deep slumber. He squints at a sign as he rubs his throbbing temples.
Cindy's Bakery

He slowly pulls himself out of the ditch and brushes himself off. The town is already coming to life as shop owners are opening their doors and preparing their wares. He tries to piece together his memories from the night before. It's all a blur.

He prays to Jah that he did nothing he'll regret. At least nothing he'll regret more than he regrets the pain in his head and waking in a ditch. He makes his way back to the Inn trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible.

Hyrkan
A lean figure appears at the Inn's door, reluctantly making it's appearance to the people inside. He takes a seat at a table not too near the popular fireplace.

Mumbling something not really understandable in what sounds like french, he takes a look at the surroundings, while waiting for someone to bring his something to wash down his mouth.
Sherice
Sherice looked up from behind the bar, dozing slightly in her seat. She started slightly when the door suddenly was opened and a gust of wet weather blew in with the lean stranger who came into the Inn. The stranger went, as so many chose to, to take an open seat near the hearth.

Sherice quickly finished wiping the last of the glasses then made her way around the bar to and over to the traveller.

"Welcome and well-met, sir. Can I get anything for you this eve?"

Hyrkan
Slowly taking his eyes off the fire and unto the woman that adressed him, as though the very process of seeing was extremely painful, Hyrkan pushed the words out of his mouth.

Bonjour madamme... is there any wine to quell this unfortounate man's thirst?
Sherice
"Bonjour madamme... is there any wine to quell this unfortounate man's thirst?"

"Of course sir, I will be back momentarily."

Sherice quickly returned to the bar and poured the requested wine, then just as returned to the gentleman's table and set the glass of wine on the table before him. "Can I bring anything else, sir? We still have stew hot, fresh bread, and some roasted rabbit as well."

Hyrkan
That would be enough for now, thank you. What a peaceful town you have here... No intriques, treasons, set up trials. Or at least that's what it looks like to the eyes of a stranger in these parts... Hyrkan sighed.
Addicted
Slipping into the quiet tavern, Addicted takes the far seat in the back and watches the doors and windows, her hand firmly clutching the knife under her coat....

Sherice
Sherice saw the lady slip quietly into the tavern and take a seat off in one corner, watching carefully both the door and the windows into the tavern proper. Frowning, Sherice thought to herself, 'She seems nervous or frightened.' Looking about the bar, seeing no one else present, what with the rush for lunch passed, Sherice grabbed the small sign from behind the bar and went over, opened the front door, and hung-up the closed sign. Closing the door, she slipped the bolt, then walked back to behind the bar, and resumed cleaning the glasses.

Lifting her head, Sherice smiled at the young woman in the corner. "The tavern is closed, but you're welcome to stay and relax. Can I bring you anything?."
