[Audiência Real] - Representante do Reino da Inglaterra

A Senescal Real dirigiu-se à sala do trono, naquela manhã agradável de primavera para preparar o cerimonial para a recepção do Embaixador da Inglaterra que apresentaria suas credenciais.

Quanto à decoração, o salão mantinha o feitio de outros reinados, sempre com bandeiras de cores vermelha e verde enfeitando as colunas e atrás do trono, em destaque, as armas de Portugal. Á direita do trono real, estava um segundo trono menor e mais discreto que era o trono de regência, que Sua Alteza Real, Dama Vivian usava desde que assumira como regente.

Uma mesa com três cadeiras foi disposta no salão, de modo a recepcionar adequadamente o embaixador. Um serviço de chá foi disposto, além de biscoitos amanteigados, croquetes e pasteis de Santa Clara. Uma garrafa de vinho do Porto e outra de vinho verde Pedernã completavam a guarnição junto a uma bela cesta com variadas frutas, entre uvas e maçãs doces e pêssegos aveludados.

Com tudo adequadamente disposto, a Senescal aguardou a presença de Sua Alteza Real.

The Royal Seneschal went to the throne room in that pleasant spring morning to prepare the ceremonial for the reception of the Ambassador of England, when he would present his credentials.

Regarding decoration, the hall retained the appearance of other reigns in Portugal, always with reds and greens colored flags decorating the columns. Behind the real throne, in featured, the arms of Portugal. At the right of the royal throne was a second smaller and more discreet throne which was the throne of Regency, which The Royal Highness, Lady Vivian had used since she had taken over as Princess Regent.

A table with three chairs was arranged in the hall, in order to properly receive the ambassador. A tea service was arranged, along with buttery biscuits, croquettes and pastéis de Santa Clara. A bottle of Port wine and another of Pedernan green wine completed the garnish next to a beautiful basket with varied fruits, among sweet grapes and apples and velvety peaches.

With all properly arranged, The Royal Senescal waited for the presence of the Royal Highness.

Logo no início de seus deveres como Princesa Regente, Vivian tinha uma importante reunião com o Embaixador da Inglaterra, onde ela o receberia para que ele apresentasse suas credenciais e conversassem um pouco.

Assim, dirigiu-se à sala do trono sem muita demora, pois ela acreditava que era uma falta de cortesia deixar um convidado à espera. Trajando um vestido preto e um longo véu de igual cor, representando o luto pela morte de seu irmão, a Princesa Regente cumprimentou a amiga e Senescal Real Dama Beatrix e sentou-se no trono indicado, aguardando a presença ilustre do embaixador inglês.

Early in the beginning of her duties as Princess Regent, Vivian had an important meeting with the Ambassador of England, where she would receive him to present his credentials and talk a little.

So, she went into the throne room without much delay, because she believed it was a lack of courtesy to leave a guest waiting. Wearing a black dress and a long veil of equal color, representing the mourning for her brother's death, the Princess Regent greeted her friend and Royal Seneschal Lady Beatrix and sat on the throne indicated, awaiting the illustrious presence of the english ambassador.

The new English Ambassador to the Kingdom of Portugal had finally arrived in that sunny land and he had been given instructions to report at the royal palace to present his credentials, as it was custom.

When he arrived at the palace he greeted one the guards, introduced himself and requested to be taken to his royal audience.

O novo embaixador inglês para o Reino de Portugal tinha finalmente chegado aquela terra solarenga e recebido instruções para ir ao palácio real apresentar as suas credenciais, como era costumeiro.

Quando ele chegou ao palácio ele saudou um dos guardas, apresentou-se e solicitou que fosse levado à sua audiência real.

O Guarda Real recepcionou o visitante, após confirmar sua identidade, uma vez que fora avisado pela Senescal Real, ele conduziu o embaixador até a sala do trono, onde ele já era aguardado.

O embaixador é recepcionado e convidado a se apresentar.



The Royal Seneschal announces to the Princess Regent the arrival of the Ambassador of England, who was led to the throne room by the royal guard.

- Your Royal Highness Princess Regent Vivian Lara Viana, in audience, the new Ambassador of England.

The ambassador is welcomed and invited to introduce himself.

Quando a Senescal anunciou a chegada do embaixador, a Princesa Regente olhou com atenção para a porta de entrada da sala do trono. Ela manteve a postura ereta e sorriu de forma gentil e delicada, como era seu costume, assim que o avistou. Vivian estava ansiosa com a audiência com o embaixador inglês, mas não deixou transparecer. Deste modo, ela esperou que ele falasse.

When the Seneschal announced the arrival of the ambassador, the Princess Regent looked closely to the entrance door of the throne room. She kept her posture up and smiled in a gracious manner, as usual, as soon as she saw him. Vivian was anxious with the meeting with the english ambassador, but she didn't let it show. Thus she waited for him to speak.

He gave the Senechal a little bow, turned to the Princess-Regent and gave a bigger bow.

Greetings your Majesty. I have been sent to your Court by King Moratt, rightful ruler of England, as his Crown Ambassador to your great and prosperous kingdom.

Dunpeal reached for this pocket and retrieved a parchment.

Here your Majesty, my ambassadorial credentials.






By the writing of this letter, I, Lord Richard Dorchester, Chancellor of the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of England, do hereby appoint His Excellency, Lord Dunpeal Godwin de Avis, as Crown Ambassador to Portugal. This appointment gives the ambassador the authority to communicate and work with the leadership and diplomatic representatives of Portugal.

This letter also grants Ambassador Dunpeal with the full authority to exchange information of a public nature, to represent the Kingdom of England in routine communications between our lands, and to build and maintain a friendly and prosperous relationship between England and Portugal.

- É com grande honra e alegria que recebo as suas credenciais e agradeço por Vossa Excelência ter vindo ao meu encontro em nome do rei Moratt da Inglaterra. Fico encantada com a presença de Vossa Excelência em terras lusas. Desejo de todo o meu coração uma vida longa e próspera a Sua Majestade e que nossos reinos criem grandes laços de amizade, união e triunfo.

A Princesa Regente olhou para o Embaixador da Coroa e sorriu.

When the Royal Ambassador stopped talking, the Princess Regent kindly answered:

- Be welcome to Kingdom of Portugal and to my humble Court, Your Excellency Lord Dunpeal. I hope you had a calm and safe trip until here.

She took the parchment, carefully unrolled it and read it. Vivian noted each detail of the document and everything was in perfect order.

- It's with great honor and joy that I receive your credentials and I thank Your Excellency for coming to meet me in behalf of king Moratt from England. I'm enchanted with the presence of Your Excellency in portuguese lands. I wish from the bottom of my heart a long and prosper life to His Majesty and that our kingdoms can creat bonds of friendship, union and triumph.

The Princess Regent looked at the Crown Ambassador and smiled.

The ambassador observed the Princess-Regent and waited patiently while she read the credentials. He smiled with the positive outcome and bowed again.

Obrigado Sua Majestade. Irei transmitir a sua mensagem ao meu monarca.

If I may, your Majesty, there is the matter of exchange of information. I am aware that your reigning monarch has recently passed away but I cannot find an official confirmation to relay to my Royal Chancery. Also, I am under the understanding that there may be a Portuguese Ambassador in England, perhaps you could advise me? I am very keen to reconnect diplomatic ties, with your blessing off course.

Com a sua permissão, Sua Majestade, existe o dossier da partilha de informação. Tenho conhecimento que o monarca reinante faleceu recentemente mas não consigo obter uma confirmação oficial para encaminhar à minha Real Chancelaria. Mais, tenho a impressão de que poderá existir um embaixador Português em Inglaterra, talvez me posso confirmar quem? Gostaria muito de restaurar os canais diplomáticos, com a sua benção naturalmente.

A Princesa escutou com atenção à questão diplomática e disse:

- Quando meu querido irmão faleceu - e que Jah o tenha -, eu, como Regente de Portugal, fiz o comunicado oficial na praça do reino para informar à população e posso solicitar uma cópia para que seja entregue a Vossa Excelência.

Ela fez uma indicação à Dama Beatrix para que avisasse ao Secretário Real Dom Kalled de que o documento deveria ser entregue ao embaixador inglês o mais rápido possível.

- Sobre a questão da existência de um embaixador português em Inglaterra, eu também acredito que haja alguém nomeado para a função, mas como eu assumi a regência recentemente e como meu finado irmão fez reformas na instituição, ainda não tive tempo de obter as informações atualizadas sobre a Real Chancelaria. Assim sendo, entrarei em contato com o Real Chanceler para que ele compareça a uma audiência comigo e me coloque a par dos assuntos diplomáticos. Em breve, serei capaz de te responder a isso em uma outra oportunidade.

Novamente ela olhou para a Senescal e assentiu com a cabeça. Mesmo sem dizer nem uma palavra, Vivian sabia que Beatrix havia compreendido o recado.

- De qualquer forma, muito me agrada uma aproximação da Coroa Portuguesa com a Coroa Inglesa, pois acredito que nossos reinos possam ser grandes aliados. É claro que Vossa Excelência tem a minha bênção e minha proteção.

The Princess listened carefully to the diplomatic question and said:

- When my dear brother died - and may Jah be with him -, as Regent of Portugal, I made the official announcement at the square of the kingdom to let the population know it and I can request a copy to be delivered to Your Excellency.

She requested to Lady Beatrix to notify the Royal Secretary Lord Kalled about the document, that should be delivered to the English ambassador as soon as possible.

- About the question of the existence of a Portuguese ambassador in England, I also believe that there is someone named for the position, but as I took up the regency recently and my late brother did reforms in the institution, I didn't have time to get updated information about the Royal Chancery. So I will get in touch with the Royal Chancellor to attend to an audience with me and put me wise to diplomatic matter. Soon, I will be able to answer you in another opportunity.

Once again she looked at Seneschal and nodded. Even without saying a word, Vivian knew that Beatrix had understood the message.

- Anyway, I do appreciate an approach of the Portuguese Crown with the English Crown, because I believe our kingdoms can be great allies. Your Excellency has my blessing and my protection for sure.
