"Any chance of another ale tonight?"
As she heard Roby, all the tension accumulated in her throath burst into loud rivers of laughter. She laughed and laughed, unable to stop, feeling her tummy cringe and hurt, but yet she was still laughing. When she finally managed to take a breath, she felt her skin tingly and warming up in waves, feeling each and every muscle, each and every joint relax and stretch. The burst of laughter had been so intense, she even felt her eyes moist. Boy that hadn't happened in a while!
Still a bit confused, still not completely out of the shock, she did decide it wouldn't let it climb on top of her and take over. There was ale....so much ale that could bring the giggles back in no time. "Dear blessed ale..." she whispered and went to pour some more. "One for Lili, one for Roby...one for the pretty but strange lady...." One by one, she hoped it would help. It had to help!
As she poured the ale, Hikenai and Kelster emerged from the closet, it seemed, and now things looked more familiar than just a few moments back. She could hear the pouring rain, splashing atop of the roof as Hikenai toasted.
Lili turned and pushed the mug in front of Roby, then went to the black haired lady and placed the mug in her hand carefully, making sure she'd grab it and not waste this one too, she hoped, and held her tightly.
"For the cleansing storm! For the rain that blesses our crops and keeps the fish dancing! For Hik and Kel! May they have many, many days of happiness ahead! Cheers!" She smiled, more with her heart than her lips, for the dark would have it hidden anyway.

I came to work early, to set up the tables for the evening meals. Maxine had prepared sausages! I could hardly wait to try them with the fragrant herb and onion bread she had pulled from the oven earlier!
John Blackstone entered the tavern, already carrying a tankard of hot spiced wine. He sat at the bar and took a long drink, eyeballing Blythe as she went about her work. The lass had a thin sheen of perspiration on her upper lip, as she had just returned from the kitchen where Maxine roasted chestnuts on the hearth.

As he pulled off his heavy coat, hat, and furlined gloves, Blythe was impressed with his appearance. He sat down at the bar across from her and smiled.
