The Colony of Bath

-fromENBritta
Seeing Sajan's horror at the thought of leeching, Britta had to laugh. Leeches were used as a last resort and contrary to the town's priest way of thinking, the tea that had brewed had done much to help sajan. Britta had much more faith in the druid knowledge of plants and roots in the forest than what the Christian priest, who spent must time at the tavern, had to say about leeks (which are good for pregnant women). The priest may have (unknowingly) done his part to help Rosalynn and Sajan with aquiring an heir.

(just in game fun, no insults)

Rosalynn
After freshening up, Rosalynn heads for the Rubber Ducky to see Sajan and their friends. Feeling a bit odd after eating some of the leeks the Father brought which Sajan left untouched, she closes the door behind her as she goes outside. Relishing the warmth of the sun on her face, she skips part of the way while humming happily to herself. She calls out exhuberantly her greetings to the people she passes on the way to the town hall and Sajan's office. She laughs to herself at some of the odd looks she receives from her girlish behavior.

She decides next time she feels unwell, to try whatever it was Sajan drank as he seemed to be fit as a fiddle this day when he awoke. Rosalynn detours by her own tavern to check the stock before continuing on and seeing more than enough supplies to last, she goes on her way and after passing the Town Hall and his office, she arrives at the Rubber Ducky and enters. Her face brightens considerably seeing what good a mood Sajan is in. Crossing to him she kisses him softly on the lips before settling down in a seat beside him.

She blanches considerably at the mention of leeches and shudders at the thought of their being put to use. She remains silent as she listens.

Noresor enters the Tavern after a lengthy trip into Cornwall... He greets the regulars at the Tavern and takes his seat

Hey Bartender! One ale please, my favorite please.

He winks at the bartender, finishes the drink and signals for more...
-fromENmeda181
“Noresor! Welcome home!” Meda greeted him. She handed him a tankard, and laughed as he downed the drink in near one gulp. “Travel makes for thirsty work, I see.” She refilled the mug, then asked, “So Nor, tell us of your travels. Any news of interest from Cornwall?”

After the many congraulations and drinks Jean, Jr were escorted home by Sir_Dunn. Jr went inside and straight to his bed. Jean and Dunn stood outside for a few moments to say their nightly goodbyes. I can't believe how wonderful today has been. Jean said, smiling. Neaither can I. I thought for sure you would have said no. Dunn replied. I can't even imagine saying no to you dear. Jean giggled. Dunn just smiled.

Jean glanced and noticed a playful look that she hadn't seen before. What's that look for? she asked. His smile just grew bigger. uh oh Jean thought. She slowly started to back away. Dunn took steps toward her as she backed up. She then saw her chance and took off running with Dunn behind her.

After a few minutes of running Dunn caught her and spun her around in the air. They were spinning so fast that Dunn could keep his balance and they fell onto the grass laughing. What was that for? Jean asked. For fun. he replied, helping her up. He walked her to her door again and kissed her goodnight. See you tomrrow my love he called out, as he walked off and she went inside for the night.

A day at the taverns meant a lot of excitement.

First, Father Xiax had the guts to tell Rhiannon that her beliefs were off, and that it was his job to burn her at the stake, Rhiannon was heard yelling, from miles away,
"BURN AT THE STAKE, MY ARSE!"

A thorough talking-to hopefully set him strait, that women were not helpless- at least, not in Bath, Winchester, and Arundel, they weren't.

After Xiax left, Rhiannon heard the wonderful news from her cousin, Amy: her son Edward would soon have a new brother or sister! After more discussion, Amy revealed to Rhiannon that she didn't want Xiax to be her doctor. What could she do but volunteer to be Amy's midwife?

After leaving the tavern, Rhiannon put the children to bed, and immediately dug out all the dusty old volumes that had come with her from Arundel. In those tomes the medical wisdom of the Celts abounded... so of course, Rhiannon hadn't studied them yet.

So far, Amy seemed to be right on schedule. Her food cravings weren't cravings for odd types of food, but for odd quantities. In fact, right in front of Rhiannon's eyes, Amy had devoured eight loaves of bread, to the amusement of Rhiannon and amazed concern of their fellow tavern-goers.

Sitting in front of the warm fireplace, Rhiannon cracked the spine of the first book. She was in for a long night, but she would need all the knowledge she could get if she were to be a midwife.

after amy came from the tavern she put Edward to bed and went downstairs and started eating more food. amy was shocked what she ate 12 eggs, 4 loafs of bread, drank 9 bottles of milk, she guessed she had to go to the market. amy went into the living room and started reading books how to raise children by your self, after reading most of the books amy went to bed.

When Elvira entered the tavern she was amused by the whispering that was going on all around her. Aloud, jokes were passed around about how the trip to Gloucester would go. She laughingly asked what all the whispering was about and suddenly in a moment of silence Sir Brad leaned toward her and whispered in her ear, “I love you, that is the big secret!” Speechless for a long moment Elvira tried to answer sensibly but nothing emerged from her lips. In the silence Brad laughed nervously. As Elvira whispered back eventually a few word escape, “….little .sudden……someone……….but if you……me…….” Meanwhile Dunn tries to sooth Jean's worries about their upcoming travels.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Elvira,” Rodrigo said, “I have here a letter from a gentleman, Sir Brad Grey (aka bfp100) who asks for your hand in marriage, and being the good man that he is he came to me first.”
Elvira’s heart skipped a beat and as calmly as she could she asked, and what is your mind on it, Cousin?”
“I was making sure he wasn’t pulling me leg,” Rodrigo laughs, “Is it your intention to marry this man?”
“I am so inclined, with your permission.”
“You have my blessing then.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again in the tavern Brad leans to Elvira, “I have received word from you Cousin. He asks me if I am asking for your hand in marriage. My kind lady, what do you feel?” Brad drops to one knee holding before him a beautiful golden ring, “ If it were up to me, my lady, I’d say yes with the utmost love in my heart. Will you marry me?”
When she could form the word through the beating of her heart the simple “Yes” was heard aloud to all.
Rosalynn
That day as Rosalynn made her rounds at the shops in the market, she stopped in at the booksellers. She loves to read and there was always a chance that a new book had been delivered. Browsing amongst the shelves, she comes across an interesting book of blank pages with the word 'Journal' written on the front cover. A type of cloth covered the journal front and back. Her mind swims with ideas as to what she can write inside of it and immediately purchases it along with a new bottle of ink and several quill pens. Carrying her newfound treasures and the groceries home, she quickly puts the groceries away and then sits at the table to begin writing in the journal. She sits there unmoving for several minutes mulling over what type of dedication to put inside the front cover before writing:
Quote:
Bartholomew is what I do name thee,
Holding daily thoughts and secrets for me.
Dreams for the future, and worries past,
The one to seek, the latter not to last.

This much written, Rosalynn then studies the first blank page before beginning to write.

I'll call you Bart for short to make things easier on meself especially when in a rush. I will attempt to write a little each day as to what is going on in my new life as Sajanzv's wife as it is a new experience and one that I will treasure forever.

Tis hard to believe that we have been married one month this day. Time flies whatwith him so busy with his mayoral duties and I with my weaving and tavern.

I grow to love him more and more each day if such is possible. He completes my life like no other ever has. He's decided not to run for mayor this term, which I'm okay with, and has me running instead. I hope to do as good a job as he did that is for sure. I had a wonderful time teasing him about wanting to escape from me to go traveling unencumbered as as a mayor, he couldn't travel.

The last few days have been puzzling as I am nauseated upon awakening but after some bread and tea, my stomach calms. And too I've discovered that if I snack on some fruit or more bread throughout the day, it remains calm.

Spot seems to have been putting on some weight lately if such a thing is possible without her popping at the seams. My guess would be she's been visiting either Sajanzv's pigs or the ones down the road and is in the family way. I wonder how long before we start seeing little spots running around?

Neptune is doing well and I need to ride him more often even if only around the Town Square for exercise. He definitely doesn't like being cooped up and voices his displeasure often. Unlike Spot, fruit doesn't do much in the way of placating him.

Now for news from around town, Jean and Dunn and Elvira and Brad are to be married sometime in the future. Bath is growing and love seems to be in the air. I seriously need to get out more to catch up on all the gossip.

This is it for this day's entry, Bart.

Finishing up her writing, she blows lightly on the page to dry the ink before closing the cover. Looking around the house, she searches for a place to 'hide' it. A smile lights up her face as she remembers the chest given them by Lady Arielle and going to it, Rosalynn digs down deep under the blankets inside and tucks the journal beneath them.

My dearest husband, Sevare-

It seems I have become the town midwife. While I was in the tavern, I met with my cousin, Amy, who is expecting her second child. I feel hers may not be the only child to be born here. The town, with its Roman baths, is a very romantic place, and very warm as well, despite the winter season quickly approaching. Perhaps I could make a living as the midwife here. I certainly have the experience!

The children are doing well, but we all miss you. Is Kaila adapting well to being Mayor? If so, could you come sooner than expected? I know you feel as I do- I do not want to spend our first Christmas as a married couple apart.

Please, my Love, come soon.

I love you,
Your adoring wife Rhiannon
Gregarious
Tis an interesting town we have here. I lost my cat as I approached Bath. I will miss her. But fortune smiles, I discovered a lost treasure as I buried her in the country side. This has allowed me to open a pig farm.

I've been made a squire by Bfp one of the first people I met in this town. I've also seen a vision of heaven with rolling green eyes. I think I will like it here.

The town's sheep seem to be an endangered species and they seem especially shy around women. I think this bears investigation, but that will have to wait for later.

So little pigs, want some corn? It is a beautiful day.
Gregarious
Ah my lil'piggies you are looking good today.

I'm afraid I have not been able to discover the root of the trouble with your friends the sheep. However, most intersting occurances in the tavern the other day. The Priest threatened to burn a pagan! There were implications of witchcraft as well. I'm no expert on these things. However, a strangle ailment seemed to decend on the tavern. Many of the patrons appeared to turn to stone. It appears that the affliction has past now and none appear to be the worse for the experience. But just in case I will be here to protect you have no fear. No ill will come to you.

I must discover more of this town.

I spied the beauty with the rolling eyes again today. I think things are coming along nicely.
Rosalynn
After wretching quietly out behind the house first thing that morning, Rosalynn tidies herself up and pinches her cheeks to get some color back in them before seeing Sajan off to his office. As soon as he is out of sight, she quickly closes the door and races for the nearest chamberpot, heaving until she's exhausted. Rather than stand or move about right away, she pushes the chamberpot away from her and just lies there on the floor to rest. Wondering if she will survive, she finally gets to her hands and knees and after crawling over to the chest with the blankets in it hiding her journal, withdraws her journal and gets cautiously to her feet. Gathering up a quill pen and bottle of ink, she takes them to the table. She puts some water on to boil for tea, slices several pieces of bread, and retrieves the chamberpot from the bedroom just in case. After fixing her tea and putting the bread on a plate and setting both on the table near her journal, she sits down and carefully sips the tea after taking a few bites of bread. Praying all the while that both will stay down, she opens her journal up to the next blank page and begins to write;
Quote:
Dear Bart,

I don't know for how much longer I'll be able to keep what has now become obvious to me, a secret. One of these mornings Sajan is bound to notice my disappearing outside early in the morn and returning looking a tad bit paler. When next I get the opportunity I'll inquire of my cousin Rhiannon to be certain, that is if I can keep my tummy calm long enough for the trek.

Tis a curious thing though as with him having been so busy of late, when did this happen? Surely not on our wedding night or the night after or maybe it....no, I'm going to cut that thought off before I go up in flames of embarrassment. It does seem awful sudden though. I hope he'll be pleased. Perhaps when the end arrives he will have come to some sort of peace with himself and allow his lastname to be used. He was treated badly and wrongly by those who he believed were family, so I understand well why he desires to distance himself from them and their lastname.

Love is definitely in the air in Bath lately as now Biff and Elvira are engaged to be married. It'll be a race to the altar between them and Dunn and Jean. There is a new frequent visitor named Gregarious who seems to be attracted to the pretty bartender, Meda.

Life otherwise is quiet and serene, aside from the sacking of the Town Hall in Salisbury. We may or may not be traveling there to help in taking the town back if need be. The citizens, and even some visitors to Salisbury, acted quickly and bought as many of the 1,00 pound goods as were on the market to save for the town when an honest and trustworthy mayor can be put into office.

Rosalynn pauses in her writing, then blows gently on the wet ink to dry it having decided that she was done for now. After finishing her tea and bread, she washes the dishes and sets them to dry. She goes into the bedroom and having already made the bed earlier, she climbs in on Sajan's side under the blankets and with his scent comforting her still queasy stomach, she drops off to sleep.
