The Colony of Bath

Sajanzv
Sajanzv slowly opens his eyes again. He focuses them on Rosalynn and can see the worry on her face. "Darling, I am fine. It was just my worry about not finding you that brought this about. Let me just rest a while and I will be perfectly fine by the morrow."

Closing his eyes again, he immediately feels the darkness once more encircling him, bidding him welcome into the realm of sleep.

Meda muttered in frustration when no one answered her poundings.

"Lady Rhia? Is anyone home??" she again called. To herself she thought, "Why must trouble always happen at night, when normal people are asleep?" Subconsciously, she ignored the fact that she had been wide awake, before trouble appeared.

Finally, the pilgrimage had come to the end of its journey, Bath, the final resting place of Eulaliya, and the statue they had brought to remember her. She gazed at the statue still resting in the cart, thinking of the dear lady she met but only twice, and yet still held such an impact on her and the town.

She turned quietly, and seeing her falcon resting on a branch, held up her arm. The falcon flew to her..."My girl, I have good news...I have found a fitting name for you, I think. I shall call you Spirit!" Spirit looked at her, but made no noise. After giving a bit of meat, Ama says "Fly to Blacx, to ease his mind as he travels..." She attaches a quick note, then raises her arm, and watches Spirit fly off...

A swift death following the fever...

On her desk were the papers, letters and invoices. A letter from HRH Prince Dugustus, stating that she should take the child to St Cross... An invoice for a carriage, to carry two women and a baby to Winchester...

Now, a new invoice graced her desk... for a tiny coffin and the services needed to bury a baby boy.

She had just finished posting the last of her letters, calling for help, when she came home to find Amy outside. With a rope, tied into a noose.

Without thinking, she tackled her cousin. The tears coursing down the woman's eyes told Rhiannon everything she needed to know.

Luckily, Lord Trect happened by. While he helped immobilized her, Rhiannon did all she could to reason with her cousin, to no avail. Finally, exasperated, she searched the yard to find something to knock Amy out. What luck! She had found some bella donna. Quickly she ran into the house to work the normally deadly plant into a knock-out potion. Prepared correctly, she should be out in a matter of moments...

After forcing the concoction down her throat, Rhiannon waited, sitting on the woman's hands while Trect sat on her feet. Almost abruptly, Amy fell asleep, and Rhiannon helped Trect to take her into the cottage.

She had cleared everything from Amy's room that could potentially hurt her- perfumes, bedclothes, small objects, curtains. Anything that could be used to poison, hang, stab, burn, or otherwise hurt a person was removed.

As an afterthought, Rhiannon had asked Trect to install a lock. It hurt her incredibly to have to imprison Amy, but she needed to keep her cousin safe until family could come and she was in her right mind again.

Now, all four children sat in a temporary crib in the study, while upstairs the maids thouroughly scrubbed the nursery. Still out cold, Amy lay on her bed upstairs.

Quietly, Rhiannon wrote a letter to her brother, Emunah. Before loosing her mind, Amy had mentioned that she would prefer him to do the funeral. Hopefully he wasn't so busy as the Lord Chamberlain to do it.

*Having gotten Sajanzv home where his wife can care for him, and after a few minutes of following Lady Rosalynn like a lost puppy Gregarious decides it is time to finally get home. Everything seems in hand now, the Lady knew best what to do now.*

Ahhh me piggies, how are we today?

I am sorry it has been so long. Momentous times lately. The worse, we have lost little Edward. The Best a statue to a potential Saint will be raised in the town. I wish she had arrived earlier. Perhaps she could have helped Edward if we had asked?

I have met a number of the pilgrims from Barnstaple, they are the ones that have brought the statue. Most interesting and friendly people. I hope to travel to their town some time in the near future. Perhaps their statue will become a place of pilgrimage for the whole country.

I've also gotten myself in a bit of trouble in the tavern, but I think it will work out. I am conflicted at the moment. Does she of the rolling green eyes know the power she holds? Do I make headway? Am I losing time and ground. I do not understand women. What does a raised eyebrow mean exactly? Does it matter if it's the left or the right? The LOOKS they have. Am to understand what they imply? Others are talking? How do they suspect?

Ahh! Questions for a better man than I eh me piggies.

Well I've enlisted in the town militia for the day. An honest days work for an honest days pay.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud.

Ama directed the servants to take the wooden cart to the resting place of Eulaliya, where the statue would be set. Once all the Pilgrims arrived, a ceremony would be held, honoring her as a Patron Saint of Barnstaple. Until then, she made the necessary arrangements for their short stay...
Fabrizio
OOC: Before Bath we were in Bridgewater

Fabrizio arrived soon after the pilgrims in Bath. In Bridgewater he had decided not to travel with his friends, but escort Bishop Syounger to the safety of Bath.
He was worried with BlacX not being with them… But alas, all the others pilgrims were safe.

He decided to enter the tavern to drink and meet the citizens.
After talking with his cousin Sajanvz he decided to visit his sister Rhiannon. It was her that gave him the bad news. Edward, the son of Amy died from scarlet… and the worst things even more Amy wasn’t reacting very well to the death of her sibling.
“What would start to be a good day, had become a sad day.” – he thought.

Outside in the main plaza he looked to Ama. She had took on her shoulders the responsibility of coordinate the unload of the statue.

“Well, I better go and helper… That will distract me…” – he thought.

Meda woke that morn with the surf pounding in her head. She'd spent the night running around the town like a blind chicken. One priest and three women with knowledge of herbs in the town, and she hadn't been able to find any of them. Fortunately, when she returned to Lady Rosa's home, she was told that the situation wasn't life-threatening, and Sajanzv was sleeping quietly. She returned home, and once there exhaustion had finally claimed her.

As she set about her day's activities, the pounding slowed, but remained irritatingly evident. She noticed a group gathered around a cart near the tavern. She remembered something having been told her about a statue, but she couldn't think straight enough to remember. During the course of the day, she learned of little Edward's death. The news hit her hard. Meda didn't know Amy very well, but few things hurt as badly as the death of a child. In her hometown, she'd heard of mothers committing suicide in such situations. Meda hoped against hope that Amy would be able to survive this.

As the news of baby Edward's death reached ArcaneJill, she bowed her head. Her herbs did not help this child. She possessed stronger preparations but had not offered them as she feared their strength would have proved toxic to such a small child. Perhaps she should have? A shadow of guilt crosses her for not having been able to do more. She left Amy with a sleeping child, hopeful his fever would break and now... now... no more. She knows of some that have been helped by her ministrations. Now there is one to be added to the opposite list. Nothing to do but to offer such sympathy and condolences as she could and study more, that other mothers might not suffer so.

She returns from her wanderings in the woods, seeking out leaves, roots, flowers, bark, and mushrooms to be carefully dried, labelled and stored to a hastily scrawled message on her door from Meda. She leaves her gatherings inside the house, grabs a couple small pouches, and heads for Lady Rosa's.

It is indeed a sad day all round in Bath and the Bishop thinks the morning will last some while.
He hears Emunah’s name mentioned and is in need to speak to him on Church matters but perhaps he will leave it for a day or so.

As for Eulaliya he watches the statue being unloaded and prepared. He had hoped to stay for the service and had wandered about all morning hoping it would be so, but alas not and he must continue on his journey.

It has been good to join the pilgrimage although a little out of his way but time well spent.
He wishes it to be known he supports the idea of Eulaliya being Patron Saint of Barnstaple although he does not fully understand the Churches view on this! But there it would not be the first time he has gone against tradition and probably not the last!
He takes time to look round and plants his hand on the statue to personally Bless it and says a quiet prayer for Eulaliya who like himself was a hermit and recluse for a full year so he can relate to her life.
He glances across the road and adds another prayer for the young child and his family.
He wishes he could stay longer but he must move on so he gathers up his things and moves away moved and saddened by events here today.

Ah, me piggies how are we today?

A statue to a saint is to be raised in the town! this is a wonderous boon to us. I never met the lady myself, but people that knew her were very impressed by her. Her stories of kindness and charity are legendary. I'm sure this can only be good news for the town. The pillgrims that came to set the statue in place have really enlivened the night life here about.

One of them has challeneged Sir Bfp to break the English drinking record. It is unbelievably high. Sir Bfp showed soem remarkable (and unusual) restriant and did not take the challenge on the spot. However, an idea has ocurred to me, I will have to discuss this with Madam Mayor.

Meda was wonderous tonight. She prevented Amy from *looks around quickly and lowers his voice* "from taking her own life"... She is distraught at the lose of Edward. I hope and pray she will start to recover now.

I've also met a new friend. Lady Sierrajane. She is the evil twin of the evil Meda. They are really bad news when they get together. Speaking of evil Meda, I'll have to look into buying a helmet.

Anyway. I work for the priest today. An honest days work for an honset days pay.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud.

I had my first experience getting drunk yesterday. On the one hand it was quite embarrassing considering I was a bit out of control. I said a few things that...maybe I shouldn't have said. They were all true but were things I intended on keeping to myself. Oh how the evil liquor loosens the lips! Ah, no matter...what's done is done. I only hope I have not lost any friends in the process. I do admit that it was rather fun at the same time. I just felt happy all over and wanted to dance all night. It was lucky for me that Gregarious helped my back to my house--otherwise I think I may have ended up sleeping in the street! lol

It's been a long time (since I left Scotland) that I enjoyed other's company as much as I do here in Bath. I only hope my father never comes looking for me. As much as I miss my family, I never want to go back there!

Well me lil piggies, how are we today?

Seems the church is flexing it's muscles today. I don't think they have anything against drink but they seem to have gotten all the taverns in town to lock up for the day!

Perhaps they want everyone to have nothing else to do on Sunday than to go to church? I hope Xiax has a good sermon prepared. He's gonna have a large and itchy crowd today.

I hope Lady Sierrajane is well this day, (looks around) (whispers) she had rather to much to drink last night. I made sure she got home. Hopefully he head is clear and her memory a bit foggy. It was an interesting night in the Rubber Ducky though. I wonder how Sir Bfp is doing today. I don't think anyone is meant to be standing on his head in full armour, yet he did it.

Well, It's off on patrol, I've enlisted in the Militia for the day. Being Sunday I expect it should be fairly quiet.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud.
