The Colony of Bath

Sajanzv
Sajanzv walked into the living room, and saw Davon sipping on his wine. "Okay, Davon, I am ready. Shall we proceed ?"

Sierra made her way to the market and picked up a few needed ingredients for dinner that evening. She hurried home, hoping Jill would be there. When she arrived she found the house was empty, but a letter had come while she was out. Jill had left it on the table for her. Sierra did not recognize the writing on the outside but the seal was very familiar. She openned the letter quickly and began to read:

Quote:
April 4, 1455

Dearest Sierra,

I wanted to apologize for not writing you sooner. My business here in England has taken up much of my time. I do not know what you are thinking of me right now. We have much history as friends, but after our trip back from Scotland, there is obviously much more between us now...There is a lot in my heart right now and I am traveling to Bath as you read this because I need to know what you are feeling. I will arrive in a few days time. Then I hope that we will be able to talk. Take care until then...

Doraemon

Sierra gasped after reading the letter. He was coming to see her! She dared not hope that he might truly care for her...the night they shared together on their travels from Scotland was magical and she had thought of it often. But he had gone silent and she assumed that he had not felt the same as her, but now she had reason to hope. She read the letter over again and stared at his signature for a few moments.

"Goodness, look at me sitting here daydreaming when there are guests on the way and no Jill to be found! I must go look for her!"

She grabbed a shall and went back out to the road in search of Jill. She lovingly tucked the letter into a pocket of her apron and smiled thinking of it's author.

Jill had stopped on her way home to talk with some of her fellow citizens and reassure them that yes, she was aware of the poor state of Bath's animal farms and that yes, meat would continue to appear on Bath's market. She sighed, as finally she turned onto the road of the house she shared with Sierra.

A mayor's work is never done!

She was surprised to see Sierra hurrying down the path toward her. Sierra's face turned to surprise and excitement as she recognized her roommate and quickened her pace. Meeting up, Sierra quickly outlined their evening plans.

"Guests? For dinner? Do we even have enough food in the house? You've been to market already? Then let us hurry home and start cooking! Thank goodness I left bread starter on the table!"

The two women walked home as the sun threatened to set, stopping only to drop their wraps as they made their way to the kitchen.

The two friends headed into the kitchen and began preparations for the evening meal and laughed and talked about their days.

"Jill, I haven't been completely honest with you. I know we have shared so much together. I feel like we are sisters, but I have kept something to myself that I wish to acquaint you with now. I kept it to myself because I did not know if anything would come of it. On my last trip to Scotland, when my brother was in trouble, I met up with a childhood friend. I have known him since I was a very little girl. He played with Troy and I often as we grew up...this last time I saw him, it was different. We did not see each other as only friends anymore. He has become a very handsome man...it hasn't been that long since I saw him last but he has grown so much! I was very pleased when he said he could accompany me back to England because he had family business to attend to. During the trip back we....."

She blushed a deep crimson and Jill gave her a knowing look.

"After he escourted me to Bath, he went on to a few other towns and I had not heard from him. I assumed he was busy or perhaps he had already went back to Scotland. My heart ached thinking our night together did not mean something to him. But today this letter came!"

Jill recognized it as the letter she had taken from the messenger that morning and left out for Sierra.

"Please read the letter and tell me what you think, my dear."

Sierra continued to work on the meal while Jill sat down and looked over the letter.

Jill listened to Sierra's confessions, then accepted the letter and read it over twice.

"I do not know this Doraemon, though I believe you've spoken of him once or twice before in telling me stories of Scotland. It appears he regards you as you do him. I assume you will have him when he comes petitioning for you?"

A quick nod and Sierra's creeping blush her only answer, she smiled.

"Then I congratulate you! It is wonderful to love and be loved, I know!"

Smiling, she did her best to conceal the hurt of lost love those words drew from her soul, and to simply be happy in Sierra's happiness and anticipation. She was genuinely happy for her dear friend.

Don't let your own past mar her future!
Gregarious
Well me piggies how are you doing today

I know...I know! It has been to long. I am sorry but I have been away on business. Some days, literally, it does not pay to be Lieutenant. I have been out patrolling most of this month.

Well, I've upheld the honour of Bath today. I was challenged to a duel. Nothing serious my pets, nothing to worry about. Twas just a wrestling match. I dare say much of what you have taught me came in handy this day. It was a tough fight, but I learned a lesson from my opponent as well. Never attack angry. You lose control. He would have spit me if we had been using weapons. Instead he gave me time to regain my control. It is a valuable lesson. One all young soldiers need to learn. Unfortunately most learn it as the lay dying on the battle field.

Do you like my new bauble? Gregarious shows a medallion welded to his breastplate over his heart. Seems Lady Ellsbeth was unhappy with my gift to her. Luckily my lesson from the wrestling match was well learned. I nearly threw this away. But it is Aristotlian and therefore not to be treated lightly. I had our armourer add it to my breastplate. I will keep it always as a reminder of many lessons learned.

Well I must off and look for gainful employment. The lines start to form in about an hour. So I must get something to eat and clean up. Then it is off to town hall.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud.

Sierra hurried along with the dinner preparations and Jill set the table. It had been a while since she had formal dinner guests over. She was not concerned about Sajan, as she knew him well...but this new man in town....she was not sure what to think of him. But he seemed interesting and it would be nice to get to know him better. Jill seemed a bit down cast since reading the letter and Sierra wondered to herself if Jill was thinking about Sparhawk...She wanted to ask her but then she thought bringing it up might make her more sad.

She dashed to the window and looked out to the road and spotted Sajan and Davon making their way to the house.

"Jill! They are here!"

Both of the women rushed to the bedroom to tidy their clothes and fix their hair before they heard a knock on the door.

Sunset. I had repayed my loan in full today, and had also gained a promotion in the SAS sometime ago. The bright red and orange light from the setting sun enveloped the horizon. The sun will rise again tomorrow, and work, too, will present itself tomorrow. I hurried back into the house for an early night sleep.
Sajanzv
Sajanzv showed Davon the town as they walked to Jane's place. "Bath has really grown since I was mayor. I cant believe its just 8 months since we started this town, and look at it now, the best town in England.." His face brightens as he remembers the hard work so many townsfolk had put into making Bath great

They reached Town Hall and saw people bustling in and out from the market. Even though it was approaching dusk, people were still busy selling their wares and buying goods.

They walk past the Church and Sajanzv glances at the cemetery. A tear comes to his eye as he sees some of the name plaques on the tombs. He remembers Elvira and Meda181 most of all, both of whom had a special place in his heart.... Sajanzv sighs and they move on

Gradually they reach Jane's home.
"Are you ready, Davon?" Sajanzv smiles his lopsided grin and winks. "Well here we go..." and he knocks on the door

Smiling, he follows Sajan, and views the town...

Nice... It is better than that colony i first saw at its creation... though...

The mayors should have been doing good job...

Arriving at the door of Sierra, DJ gets a nice smell...

Hoping for a nice meal inside, he wonders what the mayor looks like...

In for a couple days from the road, and then, right back on it. Salisbury again. This stretch of road was getting very familiar now. No trouble on any of his trips across. No trouble in recent memory really. But it was always better safe than sorry. His hands tensed and relaxed on his reins. The tack creaking in the early morning silence. The morning was cool and the dew held the dust of the road down. It was a pleasant enough morning for a ride.

It likely wasn't the best time to be away from Bath. To much work left unfinished. To may things to be organized, to many things to get started! But he had promised, and despite the scorn, Gregarious was a man of his word. He had been deeply hurt recently. But then duty would distract from the pain. He idly ran his thumb over the medallion recently welded to his breastplate.

Ellsbeth followed not far behind.
Wins
Arriving home after a couple of weeks wandering around, wins stops by the Ducky which was not busy at all on this day. Have the taverns died off since i was last home or is their something going on somewhere i dont know about wins thinks to himself

Leaving the Ducky wins heads for the market to take a look around.
He places some of his goods on there before going home to sleep for a couple of days and to reflect on the past couple of weeks he has had.
ellsbeth
She rode quietly along behind him...her eyes steady on his back...her head and heart still waging war.....

Their silence was like a cold storm cloud between them. Neither had much to say beyond the absolute civilities when they met at the SAS Office to head out of town. Her studies drew her once more to the University in Wiltshire and his Duty drew him to escort her there.

Her Firekissed curls swayed back and forth across the rich green of her cloak as she thought back to their parting of ways earlier in the week. She knew she was not even angry with him that day, it had just seemed simpler to hate him than to love him. Of course being angry with him did nothing to quench the fire he had kindled in her soul. She only ended up angry at herself for being foolish enough to believe it would be so simple to let him go. There was no getting around this, sometimes finding the love of your life does mean changing the life you thought you loved.

She supposed there were other things they had to find before they found each other and each of them were searching in their own way and time.

The medallion he wore on his breastplate looked achingly familiar this morning but she had not allowed him the satisfaction of seeing her eyes linger upon it or the look it had received. She instead after the initial moment of surprise had quickly averted her eyes and busied herself with Thunder. But now...now she just just recalled the mornings she had held it ....she found herself seeing in her minds eye something she had read while studying...

I held a jewel in my fingers
And went to sleep
The day was warm, and winds were prosy
I said, "Twill keep"

I woke - and chide my honest fingers,
The Gem was gone
And now, an emerald remembrance
Is all I own......

Indeed she had held it in her fingers and tucked it close to her heart....and now he wore it upon his....

She knew she needed to catch up...to be the first to break the silence...to say she was sorry....

The stretch of road between them was so short...and yet so very very distant....

She Dug her heels into Thunder's sides and jolted past Greg....then reigned Thunder in after a few moments...and turned to watch Him ride toward her....that look in his eye....

She waited for him to pull up along side her...still gazing at her with that look....

She slowed Thunder to a walk and Greg kept in step....

The silence was shattered when she saw his eyes...not the look he was giving her but the hurt behind the look....

Her voice was soft and steady....

This is it for me. You're it for me. And I can't pretend to feel any less than I do. I'm sorry - I just can't. I have tried to hate you...to run from you....and I find myself running back to you. I can go on ahead without you if you like...but it wont change how I feel. I am sorry that my trying to not love you hurt you. I am sorry I could not be honest with you or myself. I am sorry

The words ripped her in a torrent and then there was silence...the Horses long since stopped in their paths as the two faced one another......
