> [RP] Mortimer Castle

Ladygina
High upon a hill in an area near Evesham, Winchester and Sussex, sits Mortimer Castle, the place where the Mortimer Family conducts their family business and where they stay during their travels about England and abroad.

Seeing the castle Jarlath smiled, he had finally reached his destination. Looking at it he could hardly believe his eyes, it was just so impressive.
Taking the small token out of his pocket he looked at it, and wondered what secrets it had. Hoping that he would find the answer inside the castle gates he started to walk towards them. Not having judged the distance accurately it took longer than he had imagined at first, but no more than a few minutes. After reaching them he paused to compose himself, he didn't want to look like a ruffian to whoever was home.
Pushing them open took less strength than he had expected, but it was still not an easy thing. Not seeing anyone immediately he called out. "Hello, is anyone here?"
Viceroy
Viceroy sat there with a book reading with the wind trying to turn a page quicker than he wanted.

Seeing someone reading a book Jarlath walked forward, "Hello, do you live here? I'm looking for my fam- the people of this castle."
Pausing he looked at the man again, "Are you from Sussex? You look familiar."
Kennagillian
Kenna was int he Kitchen when she heard voices coming from hall. She set down the parchment she had in her hands and smudged the ink into her fingers. Her letter forgotten for the moment, she peeked out the window curiously. She turned and went down the hall to tell Gina someone was here. She took the stairs two by two as she always had... except when drinking, and knocked lightly on her cousins door.

"Gina, Gina.. someone has come to call, father is with them on the porch. Were you expecting someone...?" she waited for Gina to come, twisting her skirts.

Viceroy raised an eyebrow. "Greetings, name is Geoffrey Viceroy Mortimer. This is the Mortimer castle which is one of the places I reside from time to time. I also live in Arundel in the country of Sussex. Would you like to come in for a spot of tea, Mister...," he asked closing the book softly. While the man had said that he was familiar with Viceroy, the same could not be said.

"Jarlath. I should have introduced myself." Taking a small pause to compose his thoughts he continued. "I come from Sussex, Canterbury to be exact. And I'm here for a reason.." Jarlath reached into his pocket and withdrew the small token he had, handing it over to Viceroy he started to talk again. "I think I'm a Mortimer.. Its a long story. The man who I thought was my father.. I recently found out he kidnapped my mother, or something like that. She died giving birth to me, or so I've been told. Do you know who she might have been?"
Ladygina
Hearing a knock at her door, she hears Kenna announce that someone has come to call. Secretly hoping it may be John, she goes to the door, opening it to her cousin. She smiles at Kenna and says, "No, I was not expecting anyone. Let's go and see who this visitor is!" As they walked to where Geo was, she saw a stranger there with him. A young man, who for some reason, looked .... familiar. As they came closer, she heard something that took her breath .....

.....Could it be true?? Could this young man be a Mortimer? And if so, how was he related to them???? She just stood there, mouth agape, and waited for Geo to respond, for she knew not what to say....

Hearing some other people Jarlath glanced over at them, however he stayed where he was. It would have been rude to walk away while waiting for an answer. Looking back at Viceroy he wondered what thoughts were going through his mind, did he know the truth? Hoping that he did Jarlath remained patient, sometimes people take time to think of a reply. Especially when it to as strange a thing as Jarlath had just said.
Drestakil
Drestakil rode along the forest road, inhaling deeply of the cold air whooshing past his ears, blowing his hair back. 'Ahhhhhhh, this is the life,' he thought to himself. Coming out of the forest, he looked ahead and spotted what could only be Mortimer Castle. Hopefully some of the family would be there and could show him around the place. Although he was a Mortimer, this would be his first time in the family castle.

He cantered up the drive, dismounted and handed off his horse. The gate was partly open already. He went through and quickly spotted Viceroy talking to a young man. Gina and Kenna were entering the enclosure.

Dres walked up, "Hello, My Brother. It's been a long time since I've seen you," and hugged his brother. "Gina," he said as he bowed over her hand, "you are more beautiful each time we meet. Kenna," he continued as he lightly kissed the hand she offered, "will I see that dev-...," Dres cleared his throat, "...that wonderful husband of yours?"

As she stood there, the shock of what she had heard still showing on her face, someone came through the doors and suddenly her cousin, Drestakil was by her side. When he was finished with his greetings, she could only whisper, "Cousin, 'tis wonderful to see you. Umm...it seems we have company....." That was all she could muster, as she waited on Geo to say something to the visitor. The young man had such familiar features....He reminded her of someone.....and that reminder made her breath catch in her throat each time she looked in his eyes....He said he may be a Mortimer......but who......

Viceroy
Viceroy looks at Jarlath. "Good sir, you say your mother entered you into the world, but died shortly thereafter. Reminds me of a tale I once knew myself. Do you know anything that could... help jog the memory," he asked.

(OOC: sorry, been battling vicious illness)
Kennagillian
Kenna hurried behind Gina and was surprised to see her uncle! As he greeted her with his cheeky but expected half wicked slip, she smiled a genuine smile and greeted him as well..

“Aye, you will see him when he returns from his trip, sweet uncle, he’s taken a ship to the North with no word of his well being as of yet” she sighed deeply, trying to maintain the smile his arrival had birthed. She looked to where the young man stood with her father, then back to her uncle, her eyes questioning the meaning and wondering if they’d come together.

Gina stood near enough so she whispered “What’s he saying?” she tried to hear.

Hearing Kenna speak of Bart's absence, for a brief moment she forgot about the questions floating round in her head about the stranger in the castle, and squeezed her cousin's hand, hoping the little gesture would comfort her somehow. Then, hoping her voice would not carry too loudly, she whispered back to Kenna, "Cousin, the young man with your Father says he thinks he is a Mortimer......"

Jarlath was surprised, he didn't expect Viceroy to have heard of him, or how his mother died. Non the less, he would do his best to tell the story quickly. "A man called Ignatius kidnapped her, and then took her back to his home in Dover. However she was pregnant and the stress caused her to give birth. Unfortunately she died doing so, which prevented me from finding this out for some time. Anyway, Ignatius raised me as a son, and until about a year ago I thought I was his. Then I found out the doctors story from his daughter, and everything changed for me.."
Glancing around at the Mortimers he could see Jarlath wondered if he finally had a home again, it had been a long time since he trusted anyone fully. Pushing his thoughts aside he continued. "I went to Ignatius when he got back from his trip, and he said he should have killed me after throwing that token at my feet.. I didn't know what to do, so I just took it and left. I've been looking for my real family since."
Sighing Jarlath stood up and started to walk back and forth. Telling his story at last had re woken some old feelings, and walking always helped him calm his mind.
