Plotnik
Plotnik made his way to the registration tent fast as he could, following the young lad from the village who looked hilarious in the new Castle Livery. Quite out of place, but he was the fastest runner, and he jumped at the coin, and the experience, of serving for this festival.

He sees yet another carriage pull through the square and head for the gatehouse to the estates... easy to see as the estates were on the only hill around, and from the grounds, you could look through the gate down the entire length of the village square ... and saw familiarity in the waving pennants. With a big smile, he called after the lad that the guest who summoned him would have to wait, as work was at hand. He headed toward the team of step-carriers and horse handlers who were acting valets for the month. Seeing Cordelia step down, a big grin spread on his face and he hurried to greet her, when a very pregnant Lady Wigton appeared in front of him with parchments. Caitilin said, "My Lord, here is the list of those who have registered so far.

Lady Jennet, Princess of England
Lord Barnaby Braeden de Holland, Earl of Pembroke, Lord Warden of Sherwood Forest
Lord Kenrich Stewart Tudor, Earl of Nottingham
Lord H.Bear, Baron of Bickleigh
The Honourable Thomas_Church, Councilor of Sussex
Sir Obidiah Eaves, Hedge Knight
Sir Blades
Lord Plotnik von Liechenstein, Earl of Chilham, the Mallet of Dover
Sir Baldar de Lusignon, Baron of St Ives, Grand Marshall of the Knights of England, King's Champion
Lord Darkogreer de Stryke, Baron of Tavistock
Hamish O'Ranald, Squire of the Knights of the Realms

A demonstration match of one tilt to be presented between His Royal Majesty, King Faheud and Sir Baldar de Lusignon, Baron of St Ives, Grand Marshall of the Knights of England, King's Champion shall not be scored.

He caught Cordelia eye (at least he thinks he did), bows grandly in her direction, then he replied to Caitilin, "Excellent! Indicate that Team Devon is Lords Pembroke, Bickleigh, Tavistock, and Blades. Team Sussex will be Lord Nottingham, Mister Church, Sir Eaves, and myself. That should cause additional craziness.

"We need to pair off the first Lances. For those who you have not assessed (ooc: received their stats), just guess based on their age who a fair competitor will be. There are eleven riders, so we'll have to have one additional rider, or have one rider ride twice. Guess that is my duties as host, if none other can be found. Meet me at noon on the roof, and we'll finalize the first day's Schedule.

"The demonstration should take place on the Eve of Saint Noël's Feast. Don't you think that would be best? Some anticipation to draw the crowd, plenty of time for good-natured banter and lots of bets. Who wouldn't bet on such action? Oh, we should ask Lord Sussex if he wants to appoint a bookie, for some side income to the Palatinate. Might do, might do.
"Tomorrow, I will hold the first tilt, early in the morning, then the rest of the day shall be the other pairings. We should ..." he stopped. "Ah yes, I must have told you? The King of Arms has graciously arrived to be our Herald. When we have the list together, she needs it, so she can cry it throughout the grounds.

Destini
Hamish wrote:
I look at Destini and take the lass in my arms for a big hug, swinging her round in delight.(forgive the godmod Destini-H) I break the hug and stand back. " Please allow me to introduce the lady for who's honour I joust." I reach an arm out and pull Lady Penelope_Rose. Turning to Lady Penelope I reach out an arm and guide her to my side. " I expect you already know each other."

Destini found herself laughing as Hamish swung her around in a hug. " 'Tis almost as if we ne'er left Oddman's an' Airiana's weddin' reception!" she said with a smile when Hamish had released her, remembering the last time they'd seen one another.

She turned her smile on Penelope. "Aye, we do indeed already know one another."

Penelope_Rose wrote:
”Lady Destini,” Penelope's eyes lit up as Hamish guided her along to see the lady.”Shall we go in search of a drink to toast to old friendships renewed relationships, and to the health of those who joust today?”

"Aye, 'twould be well indeed to raise a glass in toast with ye. That is, o' course, if we have time before the tourney begins. I am anxious about His Majesty ridin' in this tourney an' doubt I can completely relax until I have seen that He has ridden the demonstration match safely. Would that I could dissuade Him, but alas, I cannae." Destini glanced to King Faheud with the shadow of a worry over her features.

Blades2005
The journey was finally coming to it end, taking just a little longer than expected. This was going to be Blades' first joust and he wasn't exactly sure what all this would entail. He knew the sport of jousting, having practiced and participated in many different events throughout England, but none had ever been sanctioned or as organized as this one. The excitement built up deep within his soul, and he feared that he would explode and act as a little kid in a candy store. He took a deep breath and guided his trusty steed Thunder up to the castle. He tried to appear to be waiting in line patiently, but was unsure exactly how successful he was. As the line moved Blades eyes caught something familiar, the banner he was searching for. There was his cousin Lady Jennet and her husband, the other members of his jousting team. He had always been proud of his cousin, and he felt it was a great honor to be on the same team as her for this competition. Blades slowly nudged Thunder forward up to the clerk.

Name?

Thomas "Blades" De Peverel, Lord of my butcher shop, as long as my wife is not within earshot.

Blades watched as the clerk laughed at his response then looked up as if expecting something else. Suddenly it dawned on Blades…. The coat of arms. Blades turned and produced a scroll with his families crest. He handed it to the clerk and then went trying to find his other teammates.

Kenrich
Ken nodded as they walked over to the were the king was, he chuckled alittle bit at the thought of cullan being his nurse should something happen to him.

Smiling" I much have someone else be there for me should harm come to me" he said with a grin looking at her. He looked at her when she said she had something for him when his turn were to come. "Oh" he said to her as the approached the tent of the king, Ken speaking with a guard to let him know who he was, though being with the Royal Guard, Ken was known to most guards. He waited too see if he would be allowed to approach.

--Pocket
Pocket looked at Duchess Penelope with a wry grin.

"And here I thought I was your favorite fool!

Zounds!

The horrors!

Where is the git? I shall joust him at once!!!"

Pocket managed to look credibly fierce despite the motley, despite being small, and despite the fact that he was sitting astride a bored-looking Shetland pony that was chewing on the remains of what appeared to be Kenrich's shoe.

Penelope_rose wrote:

“Pocket!” Penelope laughed, glad to see the king's jester. ”Care to joust, my favorite fool?” Penelope teased the diminutive little man. Seeing a pigeon feather on the ground Penelope snatched it up and laughing, theatrically jabbed Pocket with the end of the feather. Finding exposed skin, she twirled the feather, hoping to reduce the jester to fits of giggles. “I'm just warming up, my dear Pocket. Care to call uncle?” Penelope teased as she moved the feather across his neck.

Caitilin
Caitilin had been in the de Lusignon tent most of the day working on the pairing of jousters. Finally the list was complete. Her scribe made copies and sent them to all of the brave participants. the Herald, HHM Queen Cordelia, and for the host of the event, Lord Plotnik. One of the parchments was posted one a least placard out side the registration tent.

Hear ye, Hear ye! First Joust

Lady Jennet, Princess of England vs Lord Barnaby Braeden de Holland, Earl of Pembroke, Lord Warden of Sherwood Forest

Sir Baldar de Lusignon, Baron of St Ives, Grand Marshall of the Knights of England, King's Champion vs Lord Kenrich Stewart Tudor, Earl of Nottingham

Sir Obidiah Eaves, Hedge Knight vs Lord Plotnik von Liechenstein, Earl of Chilham, the Mallet of Dover

Lord H.Bear, Baron of Bickleigh vs Sir Blades

Lord Darkogreer de Stryke, Baron of Tavistock vs The honorable Thomas Church

Squire Hamish O'Ranald, Squire of the Knights of the Realms vs Lord Plotnik von Liechenstein, Earl of Chilham, the Mallet of Dover

Back in her tent, Caitilin rested. Her time was near and that was the only thing keeping her from riding in the tournament.

--Leris
Ser Leris sat quietly, the flames of the campfire making his face a stomping ground for leaping and dancing shadows. Across from him, Ser Obidiah Eaves dug into the haunch of what may have been a dog once. Some poor farmer might wake up tommorow to find their close companion missing, but it was no matter. Animals went missing all the time.
To his left, Theoden sat and rambled as always, "..managed to get to him," He was saying, "But he apparently had other things to do, headed the opposite direction, said he'd attend later." Obidiah said nothing, only continued to eat the haunch to the bone, before he tossed the remainders into the fire and wiped his fingers on the grass. "I'll have him tommorow." He rasped, "He'll have nothing to attend to then but me."
Ser Leris could remember when Obidiah's voice rumbled low and strong. A Frenchman's blade had taken that from him, tried to kill him as he slept. The hedge knight awoke in time to grab and kill his would be assassin before the blade could slip any deeper. He kept his life, but lost his voice. Over the course of the war, they sought to take other things from him too, but the Boar was a strong and determined man, some would say even a little mad. Never to his face. At least what was left of it. Burning pitch had taken that.
"Lot of royalty," Theoden continued, leaning towards the fire, his shirt hanging loose around his neck, "Barons this, earls that, word is the King's even in there. A princess too." The blond haired knight chuckled, "Wouldn't mind bedding a princess, can't say I've tasted one of those." He laughed alone, Obidiah was lost in his own thoughts and Ser Leris was ever quiet. "Royalty ain't ever stopped a lance," Obidiah rasped at last when Theoden went quiet, "It won't stop mine." He pushed himself to his feet and went inside his tent, leaving the two alone. Theoden looked to Leris, "You know," He started, but was only interrupted:

"Theoden, shut up." Leris muttered and the night fell quiet again.
Thomas_church
He was reading his book as the sun began to set. His tent was a little isolated from his team he was riding for, but he liked the sound as the wind made the trees dance in the woods behind him. He inhaled a deep breath and smiled as he thought of the festivals tomorrow. The air was getting crisper as night began to fall when a messanger approached him. It was a yong boy with blond hair as he handed Thomas the message. He smiled at the boy reading the message on the paper. He thought about finding his oppenent and getting to know the man a bit, but he then he thought that he could talk to him tomorrow. He gave the boy two gold coins and thanked him for the message. He also gave the boy a message to his oppenent, that way he would not interrupt him by showing up himself.

Lord Darkogreer,
I apologize if this message disrupts anything you are doing that the moment it reaches you. I would just like to wish you good luck tomorrow and that you have a good night tonight.

Regards
Thomas Church

As the boy ran off he patted BrownBee and went to start his campfire. Wondering if fortune would favor him tomorrow in the joust.

Cordelia
She shakes her head as he waits to be allowed to approach the King... Earls... Increasing the pressure on his arm, she guides him past the guards to the King. Nobody stopped a Dowager Queen when she wanted to be somewhere.

"Majesty," she greets Faheud with a slight curtsy. "I hear ye are jousting today. Best not get even a splinter, else I know the most remarkable nurse... you might know him... dresses in motley and favors body suits over pants." At mention of this motley fool, she faintly hears his dulcet tones... this joust just got interesting....

Plotnik catches her eye with his bow, she nods in his direction, she would go speak to him shortly unless he reached her first.

A messenger arrives and hands out the list of jousters, Cordelia takes her list and reads over it. Nodding to herself, she excuses herself from the group for a second to snag a likely looking boy...

"Lad, have ye any duties today?"

If the boys eyes got any larger, they would pop out of his head. Bowing quickly he stammers out, "N-No, Your Majesty...."

"Now ye do. Go to the registration tent and gather the arms that have been submitted. Then, ye see those beams there? Hang them up according to the first list that is posted. Ye shall be moving these shields around for me for the duration of the joust." She slips him a coin and watches as he bows and almost falls over in his haste. Nodding, she returns to Kenrich and the King.

A short while later...

The boy had hung the shields as directed by the Dowager Queen. Now the pairs for the first round can be seen throughout the grounds clearly...
