Cosa c'è di strano oggi nei tuoi occhi? Chiese Arduino al suo riflesso nello specchio. Stai piangendo. Sospirò.

Il volto pallido era sintomo di una notte passata senza dormire, dedicata alla preghiera e agli attacchi di panico per quanto stava accadendo. Sentiva su di sé il grave peso della responsabilità e, insieme, il calore della Fede che lo aveva salvato sempre e che gli aveva indicato la via da percorrere.

Oggi avrebbe compiuto un altro importante passo lungo la strada che aveva scelto di percorrere giovinetto, consapevole che molte altre ancora sarebbero state le difficoltà e le prove da affrontare, molti altri i piaceri e le felicità che la Grazia di Dio gli avrebbero donato.

Vestito come l'occasione richiedeva, uscì dal palazzo romano dove dimorava ormai da diverso tempo. Le campane sonanti spandevano gioia per tutta l'aria di Roma ed egli, preso da una forza rinnovata e da altrettanta consapevolezza, si incamminò verso la meta.

Il tuo cammino è sempre un compiersi e mai un compiuto. Ricordò a se stesso in vista della Basilica di San Tito.

Insieme al Cardinale Fenice raggiungo la Basilica, due grandi membri del clero erano stati eletti Cardinali .
La cerimonia stava per cominciare ,io da umile vescovo di campagna mi sento commosso e orgoglioso di essere presente.


Avec le Cardinal Fenice j'atteins la Basilique, deux grands membres du clergé avaient été élus Cardinaux.
La cérémonie allait commencer, je d'évêque humble de campagne me sens ému et orgueilleux d'être présent.

Vicario generale nell Arcidiocesi di Genova

La Contessa di Novellara Hamea Carafa della Spina entrò nella Basilica di San Tito chiusa nel suo abito di taffetà di seta color pervinca e la mano guantata posata sul braccio del suo sposo Ercolino della Scala Visconte di Luzzara e di Dosolo ed insieme presero posto nella panca a loro assegnata.

Erano molto emozionati entrambi, in quella bella giornata autunnale il figlio Arduino della Scala sarebbe stato elevato a Cardinale Nazionale Suffragante.

Hamea era molto orgogliosa di lui e nella sua mente riaffioravano i ricordi di quando era piccolo, era stato un bimbo un po' gracile e nel suo cuore di mamma aveva provato non poche preoccupazioni, ma aveva avuto torto, era come uno di quei giunchi sottili che si piegano sotto la forza del vento, ma resistono e si risollevano avendone la meglio, solo con gli anni aveva capito la forza e la resistenza sia fisica che morale che animava il suo ragazzo, un carattere pervicace e indomito che lo aveva portato al traguardo odierno.

Si riscosse dai suoi pensieri per guardarsi attorno, vide molti visi conosciuti e li salutò con un sorriso ed un cenno del capo, in attesa che la cerimonia avesse inizio .

Lis avait reçu l'invitation quelques jours avant et était très heureuse pour sa douce amie, qu'il méritait les meilleures choses de la vie parce qu'elle était la plus disponible et gentille dame parmi les prélats.
Donc Lis avait eu assez de temps pour préparer son cadeau. Quand elle arriva devant l'église, laissa le peint dans le chariot et entra. Elle assit sur un des bancs à mi-chemin de la voie centrale, en attendant le début de la cérémonie.

Ricevette l'invito alla cerimonia del Vicario Generale, che sarebbe diventata Cardinale!
Mentre stava arrivando in Basilica pensò che si era meritata ampiamente di raggiungere questo ambito traguardo.
Molte persone erano arrivate e lei sedette in attesa della cerimonia.

Elle a reçu l'invitation à la cérémonie générale du vicaire, qui deviendrait cardinal!
Comme elle venait à Basilica, elle pensait qu'elle était bien méritée pour atteindre ce but.
Beaucoup de gens étaient arrivés et elle était assise en attente de la cérémonie.

Entrò nella basilica, cercando con lo sguardo i parenti, e avviandosi al suo posto.

Elisabetta aveva ricevuto l'invito per assistere alla cerimonia per la consegna della berretta e l'anello ai nuovi cardinali. Conosceva l'Arcivescovo Arduino e con grande piacere si recò nella Basilica di San Tito.
Aveva indossato un sobrio abito di seta nera con un velo di pizzo sul capo.
Andò a sedersi al posto a lei riservato in attesa dell'inizio della cerimonia.

La cara Madre Pamelita consorella in Abbazia, da lei detta scherzosamente "Madre Superiora" stava per diventare Cardinale.
Appena saputa la bella notizia Marzia ne fu molto felice e si avviò verso la Basilica per assistere alla Cerimonia. Anche l'Arcivescovo Gropius sarebbe diventato Cardinale, sarebbe stata una cerimonia importante!



La bien-aimée sœur, Mère Pamelita, à Abbey, qu'elle a mentellement dit «Mère supérieure» était sur le point de devenir Cardinal.
Dès qu'elle connut la belle nouvelle, Marzia était très heureuse et elle commença à assister à la basilique pour assister à la cérémonie. Même l'archevêque Gropius deviendrait cardinal, cela aurait été une cérémonie importante!

Onorata di ciò, si era recata a Roma il più velocemente possibile, non avrebbe mai mancato all'elevatura a Cardinale Nazionale Suffragante del Monsignor Arduino, non era solo il suo confessore ma anche un amico fidato.
Una volta giunta varcò la soglia della bellissima Cattedrale, e ammirandola ne percorse la navata laterale.
Incrociò lo sguardo con alcuni parenti quali la madre Hamea e la zia Shekinah, a cui rivolse un sorriso luminoso, e un breve inchino al Duca in carica di Modena.
Poi prese posto in una delle panchine e attese l'inizio della cerimonia.

Then she taken place in one of the benches and attended the beginning of the ceremony.

Giunse infine alla Basilica e vi entrò senza altro dubitare. Il sole di quella giornata tersa d'ottobre aveva ridato colore al viso e rinfrancato l'animo.

Procedette lentamente lungo la navata centrale, osservando i presenti e salutando con un cenno coloro che conosceva: gli amati genitori, gli zii affettuosi, i fratelli, gli amici. Era contento di vederli tutti lì in quell'occasione.

Passando accanto alla madre si fermò per un istante e le sorrise con grande amore filiale e così al padre.

Si presentò al cospetto di Sua Santità il Papa e dei Cardinali e si inginocchiò. Poi raggiunse il suo posto e si raccolse in preghiera in attesa dell'inizio della cerimonia.

Mentre salutavano con un cenno i presenti, presero posto in attesa dell'inizio della cerimonia.
